Reading a P&L without panicking

  • Does a negative gross margin ever make sense at launch?

  • Sometimes — if you know the payback. Let me show you on the P&L.

How it works

Three steps to your first live session.

  1. 01

Find someone you want to learn from.

Chefs, fitness instructors, photographers, professors, musicians, language teachers and makeup artists. Creators with an audience who’d rather livestream with you than post about it.

  2. 02

Subscribe, or take a single seat.

A monthly subscription gets you an expert’s whole live program. A workshop is one deeper session you can book on its own.

  3. 03

Show up. Then keep showing up.

Ask your question in the room. Replays if you miss one. The same people come back week after week, which is most of why it works.

Mixing skin tones without mud

  • My skin tones always go grey when I mix them. What am I doing wrong?

  • You are reaching for black. Bring in the complement instead. Palette in a minute.

Three ways to spend the same money.

  • An hourly rate.

You pay for the hour. You book the slot. It ends when the hour does.

  • A video you bought.

Still on chapter two. Nobody’s waiting for you.

  • BeExpertly.

One price a month, every live class that expert runs, and a room where your questions get answered.

Subscribe to a person, or just book the one thing you need.

Subscribe to someone, and every live class they host is included. Or book a single workshop: one session, a smaller room, focused on one thing. Subscribers get first access whenever one goes up.

Monthly

Every live class they host, messages straight to them, the community in between, and replays for 30 days.

One-off

One workshop, a smaller room, booked on its own.

How often is not a promise here. It is a promise kept.

Experts can say how often they teach: twice a week, or once a month. Their page shows how long they have actually kept it.

Six weeks running means six weeks running. If they need a break they say so in advance and you are told before you turn up to nothing.

Nobody has to take anybody’s word for it, including ours.

The thing you bought is still sitting there.

You know the one. Twelve hours of video, watched forty minutes, felt bad about it ever since.

Live is the only format anyone finishes, not because the video is better, but because someone is expecting you.

Nobody sits in the back row.

Small enough that your question gets answered, that the room learns your name, that showing up twice makes you a regular. The expert sets the size, and the page always shows how many seats are left.

We could put a thousand people in a room. It would be worse, and you would learn nothing.

Every answer is already free.

You can find out anything in four seconds. What you cannot find is someone who will look at your situation, be there at seven on Tuesday, and be glad you came.

The answers got cheap. The people did not.

For people who want to get better and for people who teach

For people who want to get better

  • Three live sessions free before you subscribe to anyone
  • Subscribe to one expert and get their whole live program
  • Book workshop seats for deeper, focused sessions
  • Ask questions in the room, and between sessions in their community
  • Replays included, so missing one week doesn’t end the habit

For people who teach

  • Turn an audience into a room. Followers scroll past. Subscribers show up.
  • One hour teaches everyone in it. Your income isn’t capped by how many hours you can sell
  • Set your own monthly price and run your program your way
  • A subscriber list that’s yours, on a schedule you set, with no algorithm deciding who sees you
  • Workshops, replays, community and payouts handled, so you can get on with teaching

Every expert here is chosen for one thing: they can hold a room.

Not the biggest following. Not the longest CV. Holding a room live is a different skill from being good at the thing itself. It’s the one that decides whether you come back next Tuesday.

The room doesn’t close when the class ends.

Subscribers get a space with their expert and everyone else who was there: to ask the follow-up question, post the thing you made, and find out you weren’t the only one lost at minute forty.

Being an expert to one person is a living now.

You do not have to be the world’s expert. You have to be an expert to the person in front of you. If people already come to you with questions, you already have a class.

Frequently asked questions

A subscription gives you access to an expert’s ongoing live program, including scheduled live sessions, community access, and replay availability where offered. It’s a membership to their learning program, not a one-off purchase.

A workshop is a ticketed, capacity-limited live session focused on a specific topic. Workshops are where experts go deeper on premium subjects with a smaller group of committed learners.

No. Workshops are open to everyone, with or without a subscription. Subscribers get first access: when an expert who runs a membership publishes a new workshop, seats open to their members first, then to everyone.

Yes, you can cancel anytime. Your access continues through the end of your current billing period.

No, but you do need people who would show up. Any size counts: a newsletter, a channel, a group chat, colleagues. We are not counting followers, we are asking whether anyone turns up when you say you are teaching on Tuesday. That is the standard, and it is why a creator with a small engaged audience is a better fit here than a credentialed expert with no one waiting.

You can catch up. Sessions stay available to the people who booked them for 30 days afterwards. Live is still the point: that is where you can ask. But missing one does not mean losing it.

Nobody great stopped having a teacher.

Athletes have coaches for their entire careers. Musicians never fire their teachers. Everyone else was told their education ended at twenty-two. An hour a week is the smallest possible way to take it back.
